Trying to conceive can be extremely stressful for couples. This is especially true once a couple has tried to conceive for a while with no success. However, it is important to manage stress while trying to conceive, both for your health and for the strength of your relationship. Many individuals stop drinking while trying to conceive and may feel as though there aren’t many things they can do socially. Nothing is further from the truth. There are a number of things you can do for stress relief while trying to conceive.
Go on a Date
Think back to the early days of your relationship. Chances are you were much more creative and adventurous then. Bring back some of the carefree days by reliving some of your first dates. A trip to a movie or a museum may be exactly what you need for some much needed time together and to decompress.
Yoga has a number of positive effects on the emotional and physical body. Through the movements and breathing techniques, you’re able to reduce stress levels and to clear your mind. Additionally, yoga has an added benefit of increasing blood flow to your reproductive organs, which can increase your fertility.
Have a Spa Day
It is easy for a couple to get so caught up in the mechanics of trying to conceive that they lose track of taking care of themselves. Scheduling time for yourself to relax and regroup can do wonders for your state of mind.
Talk it Out
There is a huge emotional component to fertility treatment, one that is often ignored. Talking through your feelings is important. So that both of you feel heard, set boundaries, such as no interrupting, before having your discussion. Opening up to one another gives you both insight on what the other person is feeling and can help you to adjust to one another’s needs throughout the process.
